What role does QuitCarbon play in the relationship between contractors and homeowners?

QuitCarbon brings together homeowners and contractors to make home upgrade projects easier for everyone.

When you're ready to move forward with a home upgrade -- like a heat pump or heat pump water heater -- QuitCarbon will introduce you to one of our contractor partners who will provide a bid for your project.

QuitCarbon refers each of our projects to the contractor that we feel is most appropriate for your situation. This "only one referral" is part of why contractors choose to work closely with us, and why those contractors give our clients better than average service.

QuitCarbon refers one - and only one - contractor for each project. After completing hundreds of projects with very high client satisfaction ratings, here's why this model is effective:

  1. We have screened hundreds of contractors and are able to select the best contractor for each project and location. We make sure they are enrolled in the available rebate programs and have a history of excellent workmanship and customer service.
  2. Homeowners save hours of their time, compared to finding multiple contractors, meeting with them, and reviewing multiple bids.
  3. We're experts in reviewing contractor bids and benchmarking their price and scope against hundreds or thousands of similar bids, which is better than a homeowner trying to evaluate and compare 2-3 bids.
  4. Contractors spend less time and money chasing after jobs, and more time focusing on excellent quality and affordable work.

You are welcome to get other bids - and if you do, please share them with us by uploading them into the Bids section of your QuitCarbon Home Profile. We will review them and provide our feedback. We will not share these bids with other contractors.

We also share relevant information and photos that you have uploaded into your QuitCarbon Home Profile with the referred contractor, as per our Privacy Policy.

All agreements for services performed are ultimately only between the homeowner and contractor. Homeowners and contractors will work together through the bid process and to schedule the work, and payment is directly from the homeowner to the contractor.

After the bid, QuitCarbon rides along closely and serves as a facilitator, advocate, and resource for the homeowner. We carefully review bids and offer our feedback on job scope and how the pricing stacks up against our benchmarks. We're available to answer questions from either the homeowner or contractor at any stage of the process. To ensure everyone stays informed, we strive to keep communications shared between all parties whenever possible, and we encourage everyone else to do the same.

ContractorBecause the ultimate responsibility for project scope and price sits with the homeowner, we encourage careful review of all contracts and agreements before signing, including ensuring any changes are captured in writing. Contractors are responsible for delivery of all agreed-to work. If you're confused or unsure, just ask -- we're here to help.

We firmly believe this approach is the best solution for everyone. Homeowners have ownership over their home and the work done in it. Contractors get to do the skilled trade work that they do best. And QuitCarbon helps bring everything together as we accelerate the pace of getting our homes off fossil fuels and upgrading to a clean, electric future.
